Question
If all the free energy from the metabolism of glucose, { m{C}}_6 { m{H}}_{12} { m{O}}_6 (s) + 6{ m{O}}_2 (g) ightarrow 6{ m{CO}}_2 (g) + 6{ m{H}}_2 { m{O}}(l) goes into the conversion of { m ADP} to { m ATP}, how many moles of { m ATP} can be produced for each mole of glucose?Explanation / Answer
part a is -2880 KJ part b is 94.4 mol Part B is in the back of the book, I dont know how to get that. Part A i used apendix II and got delta G for C6H12O6(s)+6O2-->6H20(g)+6CO2(g) glucose = -910.4 O2 = 0 H20(g)=-228.6 Co2= -386 I set the equation up myself by the instructions. Not 100% if matter states are correct. I then reactions - products. 6(-228.6)+6(-386)-(-910.4) The answer I got mathematically was -2780. Mastering chem told me rounding error so i went up and guessed until I was close enough for it to count. Turns out to be -2880.
