Question

Determine the limiting reactant in each of the following reactions. Circle (Just label) the formula for the limiting reactant in each problem. Write the balanced equation and show all of your work. a. 3.50 mol of zinc reacts with 4.25 mol of silver nitrate. b. 10.6 mol of chlorine is added to 12.5 mol of potassium Iodide. PLEASE EXPLAIN THOROUGHLY

Explanation / Answer

a) Zn + 2Ag(NO)3---> 2Ag + Zn(NO)3 here silver nitrate is limiting reagent since 3.5 moles Zn require 7 mole Ag(NO3) but we have only 4.25 moles AG(NO3) b) Cl2 +2 KI ---> 2KCl + I2 here potassium iodide is limiting reagent , since 10.6 moles Cl2 requires 21.2 moles KI but we have only 12.5 moles KI limiting reagent is reagent which is present in less moles in reaction than required for complete reaction of all reactansts.
