Question
I need help finding the concentration of each solution in this serial dilution series. 1) The first solution is just 50 ml of Crystal Violet (CV) stock solution. It has a concentration of 15 micro Molar. 2) The second solution is 10 ml of deionized water and 10 ml of solution one. 3) The third solution is 10 ml of DI water and 10 ml of solution two 4) The fourth solution is 10 ml of DI water and 10 ml of solution three 5) The fifth solution is 10 ml of DI water and 10 ml of solution four I'm pretty sure we're supposed to use the C1V1=C2V2 formula and solve for C2, but since solutions 2 through 5 are all 2 ml I keep canceling out values and getting the same concentration.Explanation / Answer
concentration of initial solution=15micro molar.
10ml of that has been taken,thus amt of crystal violet in 10 ml=15micro molar * 10 ml
now in the next solution 10ml of crystal violet solution has been taken+i0 ml of water=20 ml soln
C1.V1=C2.V2
15*10=C2*20
C2=7.5molar
similarly,C2.V2=C3.V3
7.5*10=C3*20
C3=3.75 molar
and so on
