The surface area, A, of a sphere with radius, r, is A 4TT2 The volume, V, of a sphere with radius, r, is

Explanation / Answer

let radius of bigger sphere be R and that of smaller be r
R = 1.20/2
= 0.60 mm
use,
intial volume = final volume
(4/3)*3.14*R^3 = 4*(4/3)*3.14*r^3
R^3 = 4*r^3
0.60 = 4*r^3
r^3 = 0.15
r = 0.53 mm
= (0.53*10^-3) m

E = (surface tension)*4*3.14*{R^2 - 4r^2}
= 72.0*4*3.14*{0.6^2 - 4*0.53^2}*10^-6
= 72.0*4*3.14*{0.7636}*10^-6
= (6.91*10^-4) mJ

Answer : (6.91*10^-4) mJ
