CASE A.
You are working as a software engineer, as the leader of a small development team. After an iteration completes, the team meets with the customer Ernie, who is the CIO of Company Y. Ernie is pleased with your progress so far, so pleased that Ernie wants to immediately install your team
Explanation / Answer
Stakeholders here are:
The Two Possible Course of Action are:
1. I ll convince Ernie's to install the application on Company Y's server first and let it be used by the employees of Y company first. And later when it is successfully run for a good time period, then we can decide about installing it to customer's side. During that time period, my company and my software testing team will monitor the performance and all the possible risks to the security of the application.
2. In second course of action, I will simply say NO to Arnie. Because it is not good for the future reputation of my company in market, If my product is launched before customers without prior trial and testing.
In First action, It will be beneficial trial oppurtunity for my product and my company that we are getting appraisal for our work. We ll be hiring a good client for our company. If the trial period of installation at Y company is over successfully, and we get no issues, we can let the Y company to launch the product before customers. And even if we get issues, we can explain the possible outcomes to the Y company, that these are the pros and cons of the application. If the company releases the software to the customers and then it creates problems, then it will diminish the reputation of both the companies. And will deteriorate the brand name.
In Second action, It would be better to say No to the deal because I cannot risk the reputation of my company being a team head. This way I ll safeguard the brand name of my company. I ll safeguard the reputation of my product until I get assured about its future performance. And in future, after testing is over, I can launch it even on a higher price. Good work and trusted performance of my team will attract thousands of clients.
I think Second one is better for my Interest and My company's interest. Being a responsible team head, I cannot sell my product until I m assured about its 100% performance in the market before customers.
