Question
• What are some other ways you can think of to achieve efficient use of available public addresses? This can include any combination of current practices, including NAT, DHCP, dynamic addresses and bridging, or others you may propose.
• How efficient is your proposal's address utilization compared to CIDR subnetting? Analyze its effect on a production network, and propose a plan for transitioning to this proposal from a current production network. What are some of its advantages and disadvantages? Why do you think this is the best way?
Explanation / Answer
1)
We can achive efficent use of public address by using network address translation. So generally it is firewall which assigns a public address to a group / singlle of computers. Using this we can limit number of ip address..so that we can achieve efficiency. If you want to access the data outside network, one must have public address. So this NAT will conserve a lot of public address in a organization.
2)
NAT will limit number of ip address where in CIDR subnetting there will be more wastage of IP addresses. In CIDR calculating number of ip address allocaitng takes more time and there will be loss of ip address if it needs more than 254 IP addresses. where we can limit these disadvantages using NAT.
