Question
The Vice-President of Information Support Services for Acme Software Solutions has requested a list of potential employees to go to the South American office to train new employees. The candidates for the position should be an employee who speaks Spanish, has at least a Bachelor's degree and who has worked for the company 5 years or more. Data will come from the HRMaster File. Each record contains the following fields: Employee Number Last Name First Name Middle Initial Department Spanish (Contains Y/N) Highest Degree (AAS/AA/AS/BA/BS/MA/MS/PhD) Year Hired Notes: Remember each record in the file is made up of the same fields in the order listed above. Because of the way strings are compared you do not have to check for each individual degree, you can merely compare for > “AS”. In order to check the year hired you can set a currentYear variable to year(sysdate). Sysdate is widely used to indicate current system date and year is a function that will strip the year out of a complete date. Output ( a list) should include Employee Number, Last Name, First Name, Middle Initial and Department. There should be a report heading, ‘South American Trainer Candidates’. Develop a flowchart or pseudo-code to show the logic you would use to accomplish the above task.
Explanation / Answer
Pseudo code:
Print “South American Trainer Candidates:”
Read HRMasterFile
While HRMasterFile!= EOF && Employee Number != NULL
If SPANISH= =Y then
If Highest Degree > AS then
workExp = Sysdate.year-Year Hired
If workExp > =5 then
Print EmployeeNumber LastName FirstName Middel Initial Department
End if.
End if
End if.
End While
