Question

Short answer, Please fill in the blanks below the question with your answer. Please answer the following 3 question based on the figure to the left. What would be the result if the mRNA had a different base instead of the C? Why? What is often found in the anticodon at the position where the base G is located? What would be the effect if the U in the mRNA were a different base? Two RNA molecular were isolated from a cukaryotic cell and the sequence was determined, and regions of the RNA moleculars were numbered as shown below. The investigators were able to find this follwing DNA that had been the template for the RNA molecules: Why does transcript #1 have a different sequence than the DNA sequence? Where in the cell was transcript #2 when i twas isolated from the cell? How do you know? What specific kind of transcripts are both #1 and #2?

Explanation / Answer

1. UGC codon manufactures cys protien and if changed with U it remians cys (silent), G then it is trp (missense) and if changed with A it would be stopn codon (non sens)

2. question is quite confusing, so not answered here

3. It would produce Arg, ser and Gly if U replaced with C, A and G respectively.

second half

1. The transcript of #1 RNA is different to that of #2 , that would be beacuse of alternative splicing of region aftr post transcription. Alternative splicing which happens after post transcription is a fully regulated process while gene expression which compromise single gene coding for multiple proteins. During the process, exons of a gene may or may not be included or excluded from that gene.

2. Splicing take place in side the nuceleus so it can ne concluded that transcript #2 which is not excluded any region before splicing stage might be in the nucleus.

3. Not very familiar with the answer of third. not sure about it.
