Question
How would I compute this problem?: Using a 1000ppm Calcium standard, make a 100ppm intermediatestock solution. How many mls are required?? What is theexact concentration of Calcium in mg/L?? How would I also prepare 100ml of standard solutions with aconcentration of 2.00 mg/L of calcium? Thank-you much!! Say you want 1L of the intermediate 100 ppm solution: c1v1 = c2v2 1000 ppm * v1 = 100 ppm * 1000 mL v1 = 100 mL I.e.. take 100 mL of the 1000 ppm stock solution, and dilute in 900mL of water. 100 ppm = 100 * [1 mg / L] = 100 mg / L (2 mg / L = 2 ppm) Assuming you use the 100 ppm intermediate stock solution: c1v1 = c2v2 100 ppm * v1 = 2 ppm * 100 mL v1 = 2 mL So take 2 mL of 100 ppm solution, and dilute with 98 mL ofwater.
