Question
A 1.0 L vessel was inititally filled with pure NOBr (g) to apressure of 4.0 atm. Final partial pressure of NOBr was 2.5 atm after the followingequilibrium was established: 2NOBr <-->2NO + Br2 what is the value of Kp? Ok, the answer is 0.27 but I cannot get that :( please showwork. Thanks sooo much! A 1.0 L vessel was inititally filled with pure NOBr (g) to apressure of 4.0 atm. Ok, the answer is 0.27 but I cannot get that :( please showwork. Thanks sooo much!Explanation / Answer
When 1 NOBr reacts, 1 NO forms and 0.5 Br2 form So if NOBr = 2.5, the amount of NOBr reacted is 4-2.5 = 1.5 Thus 1.5 NO form and 0.75 Br2 form Kp = [Br2][NO]^2 / [NOBr]^2 = (0.75)(1.5^2)/(2.5)^2 = 0.27
