Question
Question 46 (4 points) 0 I make a solution with large amounts of HC2H302 and NaC2H302 that reacts as follows HC2H3O2 + Na+ + H2O Na+ + C2H3O2-+ H30+ This reaction is in equilibrium. What happens if I add a small amount of a strong base like NaOH to the solution? 45 this will remove H3O+ The pH rises a large amount and the reaction moves to the right until it returns to equilibrium The pH rises a large amount and the reaction moves to the left until it returns to equilibrium The pH rises slightly and the reaction moves to the right until it returns to equilibrium The pH rises slightly and the reaction moves to the left until it returns to equilibrium . SaveExplanation / Answer
Answer is A pH will rises a large amount because of strong base is introduced in a system.
Another reason is c2h3o2h is a weak acid. Thus acidic strength is much weaker thus cannot restrict the rise of pH.
On the other hand reaction will proceed towards right because neutralisation will take place and increase in concentration at LHS will increase its concentration towards RHS.(By Le-Chateliers principle)
Thus answer is A
