It is very important starting material for the synthesis of a polymer, polythene by addition polymerisation.

It is mostly form of plastic and used in packaging purpose like polythene bags, covers and plastic bags etc.

Another one is isoprene (2-methyl 1,3-butadiene) is the monomer of natural rubber
