Question
Hi,
In the given question, there are four ions (charged compunds). Two of them are cations (positively charged ions- NH4+, Fe2+) and two of them are anions (negatively charged ions- CN-, C2H3O2-).
We know that, cation react with anion to form a neutral compound (compound which has no charge) or also called salt.
So, each cation will react with each anion and hence four empirical compounds can be obtained.
1. Compund of Fe2+ and CN-:
Fe(CN)2
2. Compund of Fe2+ and C2H3O2-:
Fe(C2H3O2)2
3. Compund of NH4+ and CN-:
NH4CN
4. Compund of NH4+ and C2H3O2-:
NH4(C2H3O2)
Thank you
