Question
A) Name a method or physical process that can be carried out that would achieve the removel of ammonium chloride from your sample without affecting the other four components. Describe what is happening in this process. B)After removel of ammonium chloride, you now are left with a mixture of the metal, sand, and sodium chloride. What would you employ in order to separate the sodium chloride from the mixture in a way that would allow you to determine the mass of sodium chloride in your original sample? Describe the steps in this process C) and lastly how would you separate the sand from the solid metal?Explanation / Answer
1)obtain mass of 150 ml beaker.obtain mixture in a beaker. and obtain the mass of beaker and mixture.as firstly we hav found out the mass of beaker,we can find the mass of the mixture. 2)place the beaker on ring stand and heat it with a bunsen burner.heat frm top to bottom.heat till vapour come out and no residue at top.amonium chloride is separated.again record mass of beaker and find mass of NH4Cl. 3)record the mass of mixture after removal.add 50 ml water and stir.filter the mixture.nw salt and metal can be separated frm sodium chloride. 4)heat sodium chloride solution and obtain its mass 5) nw magnetic separation if metal frm sand and hence ,measure their individual masses.
