I have a question in a lab write up that asks us to solve forRydberg Constant based on the wavelength we get for each colorwe saw in the spetrometer for hydrogen during lab, and use thatwavelength to calculate energy. I got the energy part, I cameup with 196 kJ/mol based on our experiment for the red bar in thespectrometer. They want us to then look at the chart below toget the value of "n" based on the 196kJ/mol I got. Then usethe equation below to calculate a Rydberg Constant and compare thatto the constant we are given in the textbook. I have lookedat this chart a million ways and can not figure out how to get thecorrect "n" value. Since 196 is between the 146 and 328, doesthat mean that the "n initial" is 3 and the "n final" is 1 becauseit's in that "range" and the arrows are pointing down? I'mlost...Explanation / Answer
But the question was, how do I know the values of "n"? Like, how do you know it's 2 and 3? For the violet light in the spectrum I got 296kJ/mol so what would the "n" value be for that?
