Question
My lab is of an iodine clock reaction. I am being asked to calculate the initial rates for experiments 1, 2, and 3 from delta [S2082-]/ delta time. I know how to use the initial rate method however I am confused on how to obtain the initial concentration of S2082- and initial concentration of I-. Here is the information I am given: Volumes (mL) of solutions Experiment 0.20 M NAI 0.20 M NaCl 0.010 M Na2S2O3 2% starch 0.20 M K2SO4 0.20 M K2S208 1 2.0 2.0 2.0 1.0 2.0 2.0 2 2.0 2.0 2.0 1.0 0 4.0 3 4.0 0 2.0 1.0 2.0 2.0 How do I set up my experimental data chart to do the initial rate method?? I need to figure out what to put in as the initial concentration for S2082- and I- and what to put in as the initial rate for each one.Explanation / Answer
well, there are 3 sets of values..
initial concentration of s2o82- will be initila concetraion of k2s2o8 and for i- it will be conc. of NAI.
Intial rate..u can find by subrtracting conc. of s2o82- from 1st set and second set..u get for s2082-
and for i-,subtract NAI conc from 1st and 3rd!
