B) Oxygen had a much higher concentration in the atmosphere during the Carboniferous andPermian periods than it does today. Insects do not have a circulatory system for transportingoxygen. They have a respiratory system that relies much more on diffusion than ours does. Whywould especially high concentrations of oxygen allow insects to grow larger than they do today?

A. Generation time- this increases with animal size.as the bacteria E.coli have generation time of 18 minute where much larger mammals having generation time varies from month to years.

Total body weight- this increases with animal size. as elephant is larger than human it have much more weight.

gut body lenght- this increases with size as larger animals having large lenght the gut size also increases.

structural complexity- in animals of larger size the structural complexity is more. as the prokaryotic microbes have most simplest cell structure but eukaryotic cell structure has much more complexity.
