Explanation / Answer

(1) Prevent new viral infections:

         The hepatitis infection can be diagnosed using a positive serologic test for immunoglobulin M (IgM). The first step for preventing viral hepatitis is to immunize the individuals. This is termed as pre-exposure immunization. Anti-Hep vaccination might be useful for preventing infection in persons. If in case, a person who is not vaccinated comes into contact with an infected person, then post-exposure prophylaxis can be done. Anti-immunoglobulin antibody can be given for an infected person.

(2) Reduce deaths and improve the health of people living with viral hepatitis:
         Infection by hepatitis cause liver inflammation may result in the death of the individuals. Most deaths in hepatitis infected patients are due to HBV and HCV only. In this case, post-exposure vaccination could be given for the infected persons along with an anti-inflammatory drug, preferably a steroid.

(3) For reducing health disparities:
        (a) disease-specific initiatives should be launched; (b) culturally appropriate community-driven programs may be done; (c) a collaboration with the community and government partners can be done to perform research on virus prevention; (d) educational and developmental activities should be taught for the community; and (e) help line programs can be implemented to increase diversity by the public health workforces.
