When animals' natural habitats are used by humans, YES : many animals can be saved from extinction by breeding them in zoos or small artificial preserves.

This process called Captive breeding in which animals are breed in controlled environments like wildlife reserves, zoos. This process also includes the release of animals to the natural habitat.

Captive breeding facilitate biodiversity and helps to save species from extinction.

Captive breeding proven extremely helpful for endangered species like blue butterfly, golden-lion tamarin etc.

But there are certain challenges hence it wouldnt be difficult sometimes.

First itis also expensive, captive breeding can may disturb with the behavioural development of animals by removing them from natural predators and prey.

Captive breeding programmes in zoos, hence the lack of international standards for zoos makes this distinction difficult, Species like reptiles or birds have been laundered and removed from the wild, thus damaging wild populations

There is always risk of Disease spread and the introduction of alien genes which will may increase mortality when introduced into natural habitats.
