So I'm having some issues with reaction rates and with this question:

CH3 --- Cl + I- ----> CH3 --- I + Cl-

Suppose we start the reaction with an initial iodomethane concentration of 0.260 M. This concentration increases to 0.840 M over a period of 1 h 20 min. What is the rate of reaction?


The answer in my text book says that the rate of formation is CH3I = 57.3 x 10(-3) M CH3I/min


When I do this problem, I get 0.00725 M, not that answer. What is going on?


Oh and one more problem. How could you increase the rate of a gaseous reaction without adding more reactants or a catalyst and without changing the temperature?
