Question
Okay so we have sodium podium tartrate and hydrogen peroxide reacting. The reaction is catalyze by cobalt (II) chloride - there are 4trials done: 50,60,70,80 degrees Celsius. Obviously we know that the cobalt 2 chloride is the catalyst as when we add it to solution, solution goes pink and then green, and then back to pink. How could we prove that cobalt 2 was actually the catalyst though? How could we prove using materials from a regular high school science room. Possibly titration? PLEASE EXPLAIN.

Explanation / Answer
Run the same reactions without the catalyst! If the cobalt (II) copper is the catalyst, then all of the reactions will take MUCH longer (or possibly not even occur at all!) Also you could use varying solubility to separate out the cobalt and chloride, and show that it acts catalytically (not being used up by the reaction). Hope this helps!
