Question
Please help with converting mass to g/L etc.
3. + /1 points HarrisChem8 1.P.24. An aqueous solution of antifreeze contains 6.067 M ethylene glycol (HOCH2CH2OH, FM 62.06784) and has a density of 1.046 g/mL. (a) Find the mass of 2.200 L of this solution and the number of grams of ethylene glycol per liter. -------g -------g/L (b) Find the molality of ethylene glycol in this solution. -------m 4. - /1 points HarrisChem8 1.P.28. How many grams of boric acid, B(OH)3 (FW 61.83), should be used to make 4.10 L of 0.2400 M solution? -------9Explanation / Answer
3.
a.)
Density = 1.046 g/mL
So, mass of 2.200 L = 2200 * 1.046 gram = 2301.2 g
No of grams of ethylene glycol per litre = 1.046 *1000 = 1046 g/L
b.)
No of moles in 1 Kg of ethylene glycol = 1000/62.06784 moles = 16.11 moles
molality of ethylene glycol = 16.11 / 1 = 16.11 m
4.
Grams of Boric acid used to make 4.10 L of 0.24 M solution = 4.10 * 0.24 * 61.83 grams
= 60.84 g
