Question
Based on your gel result, how pure do you think your final GFP sample is? You can answer this by estimating what % of the protein in the GFP lane is in the GFP band. Just estimate by eye (based on the band staining intensity), and give your answer in the form of “% purity of GFP”. Give a ONE SENTENCE justification of your purity estimate. Remember, purity is not the same as yield, so you should not give an answer that just estimates the total amount of GFP in your sample.

Only when it is known to contain only a single species uncontaminated with salts or adventitious water, is a protein is totally pure. Samples of such a "pure" protein will yield a single band after electrophoresis on a one- or two-dimensional SDSPAGE gel.
The protein band for GFP in lane 1.5 is 100% pure since there is no smear trail and the band appears very distinct.
The protein band for GFP in lane 1.4 is 100% pure since there is no smear trail , but the band is faint indicating low yield.
