Eg- Paternally expressed imprinted genes tend to promote growth, but maternally expressed genes suppress them. So, paternally expressed genes enhance their function in mother during pregnancy, whereas, the maternal genome seeks to limit that functon. This genetic battle between the mother and father appears to continue even after birth.
