1) Propose a reason why the specific heat of a solution would be slightly different that the specific heat of pure water.
2) The temperature change for the water was slight in your experiments while the temperature change for the metal was large. Why was this the case?

Answer 1.
In water there is Hydrogen bonding due to which there pecific heat is high but when we add some solute to it, this hydrogen bonds are disturbed and hence specific heat of solution decreases.
Answer 2:
To answer this question we will use the equation:Q= m*C* delta T
For same amount of heat transfered and for same mass, delta T will be less for that compound for which C(specific heat capacity) is less. Between water and metal water has large heat capacity, hence temperature change was small and for metal it was large.
Answer 3:
When metal is kept in water, due to difference in heat capacity explained above, metal will loose more heat then water. So water will absorb more heat.
heat gained by water: Q1 = m(water)(C(water)*delta T (water)
heat lost by metal: Q2 = m(metal)(C(metal)*delta T (metal)
Since Q2 is heat lost, it will be negative and Q1 will be positive.
Since net heat =0
Q1+Q2=0
Answer 4:
When fan blows air, it evaporates the sweat from our body. These sweats which are salt water when evaporates, take away lots of heat from our body. This loss of heat from our body surface by evaporation of water makes us feel cold.
