Question
which of the following is true regarding the effect of a catalyst on chemical equilibruim? only the forward rate increases so the quantity of the product increases. only the forward rate increases but the quantity of the product remains the same. both the forward and the reverse rate increases and the quantity of the product increases. both the forward and the reverse rate increases but the quantity of the product increases. the effect varies depending on whther the reaction is endothermic or exothermic.Explanation / Answer
it will not effect the equilibrium. i.e. if uncatalysed reaction's product A : products B ratio is 1:1, catalysed reaction's ratio is also the same!!
However, catalyst does increase the reaction rates which contribute to the speed of your products to reach the equilibrium state !! i.e.equilibrium state is achieved faster than uncatalysed reactions
so,D
