Question:
1. Update this diagram by indicating regulatory relationships that would ensure an adequate supply of compounds M, H, and K, and minimize the build top of the intermediates when the supplies of M, H, and K are adequate.
2. Briefly explain the reasoning behind your answer to the first question.
3. What will happen if there is a mutation that would completely eliminate enzyme #4.
I got this question wrong on my exam. The teacher told us, a problem similar to this, with different numbers and letters will show up on the midterm. The teacher did not tell us the answer nor did he explain to us how to do this problem. Can someone please answer these questions for me so I would understand and be prepared for a similar problem on the midterm. Please and thank you so much.
The arrow represent the numbers. A- > B the -> is 1. B- > C is 2, C- > D 3, D- > E is 4, C -> L is 11, L -> M is 12, E -> F is 5, F -> G is 6, G- > H is 7, E -> i is 8, i- > J is 9, J -> K is 10.

1) The pathway above is diversified and regulation of it mainly depends on the enzymes that participate in the reactions.
To ensure the adequate supply of products M, H, and K, the enzymes corresponding in their respective pathways should be efficient. If the substrate A and B are adequate then the three products can be sufficiently formed.
Enzymes 1 and 2 play important role.
To regulate the and minimize the build top of the intermediates when the supplies of M, H, and K are adequate, product inhibition must be their. Then the increased product concentration will inhibit the first enzymatic reaction in the pathway.
2) When products are high they show inhibitory effect on the substrate and their would no more consumption of substrate into the pathway. Products M, H and K will show inhibition on the enzymes 1, and 2.
3) If enzyme 4 is eliminated due to mutation then the products K and H will not be formed.
