25. The common cause of inflammation in liver is exposure to chemicals. These chemicals can include drugs, pollutants or industrial solvents such as carbon tetrachloride, vinyl chloride. Liver is very susceptible to chemical because the chemical metabolism occurs in liver. After metabolism the liver breaks down the chemical into simpler products so as to eliminate them as waste products. During the metabolism process some of the bi products produced might cause injury to the liver. This can lead to acute inflammation of the liver. The continuous exposure to that chemical can lead to chronic inflammation. This can later cause liver cirrhosis.
