Question
post lab 3 4. A spot (ruin a green, nonpermanent ink marker and a spot of green food dye are placed on a piece chromatography paper. The chromatogram is placed in a mobile phase consisting of 90% water 10% propanol for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the green marker and green food dyes each separated into two components, a yellow component and a blue component. The Rf, values for each of the yellow and blue components were identical. A. Do these data conclusively prove that the ink marker and the food dye were both made from the same green dye? Justify your answer. B. What modifications to the experimental procedure would you suggest to assist you in answering question 4. A) above.Explanation / Answer
from the given data it is clear that both the components are having same polarity thats is the reason both moved same to the same distance
if both Rf is same its need not be same functional groups we can justfy only both are having same polarity it may or may not be same.
b) i am not sure but may be you can change the mobile phase polarity
