Explanation / Answer
1. An enzyme which is essential for the digestion of complete whole milk and breaks down lactose is termed as lactase. It is found in most of the organisms including human beings. The people who lack lactase enzyme show the symptoms of lactose intolerance.
In the initial stage of life, in case of humans the levels of lactase are high in the initial stage of life. So when humans are born they have high levels of lactase in body but as time passes the level decreases overtime.
So normally throughout a person's lifetime the levels of lactase produced decreases.
