Explanation / Answer

Osmosis is a movement of the molecules through a semipermeable membrane which separates the two solutions of different concentrations and molecules are moving of solvent to higher concentration of solute.

Stomata will be open when the guard cells absorbs the water and also swell up. This is also called as hypotonic in which a solution contains more solute than a solvent and molecules are transfer from low solute concentration to high solute concentration.

Whereas, Saline solution will cause the guard cells to shrink and the stomata will be closed. This is called as hypertonic in which cells will loose water and it will become shrink.
