a. In the journal Nature Genetics the genes responsible for epilepsy were studied. The study of Bridie Smith focused on discovery of new six epilepsy genes which increases the number to more than 30. Out of the six genes identified the two genes, SYNGAP1 and CHD2 were most commonly found in the patients with epilepsy. According to them each group studied had 1 percent of each gene, it was idenified as an important diagnostic tool. So it can be considered as an important discovery in the field of epilepsy.
