Biology: Drug Concentration You are a studying the concentration levels of a new drug, WondeRx, as it is adminis- tered to patients. Through previous studies you are able to estimate that t hours after a standard dose of WondeRx is given, the concentration W(t), in milligrams per cubic centimeter, is given by: 0.bct W(t) t2 at a Of course the FDA has several questions they need answered before WondeRx can be approved, which you will need to organize into a report: First, you must verify that WondeRx will not remain in the bloodstream permanently by finding the limit as t is allowed to increase without bound. They also need you to determine concentration of WondeRx in the bloodstream after 8 hours, and to check if the concentration is decreasing at that time. Finally, you also need to determine what the maximum concentration of WondeRx is and how long after dosing is it achieved. In your report you need to support these conclusions with graphs of W(t).Explanation / Answer
The concentration of drug is analysed at different time intervals. In the equation, the values of a,b and c is already given so we need to put only the value of time (t) to find the concentration (W).
In first step the time is infinite means extremely long and limitless. At infinite t the concentration came out to be nearly zero. Means there was no drug present in body after a certain point of infinite time. Hence proved that the drug will not remain in body permanently.
Next they calculated the concentration of drug in body after 8 hours of administration. And the value came out as 0.0182 mg/cm3.
Then W' is calculated to find maximum concentration of drug after 8 hours and concentration came out as -0.0008. Yes the concentration decreased at that time from .0182 to -.0008.
In same way the concentration at 3 hours and -3 hours was calculated. At t= -3 the concentration was more than at time t=3.
