What conditions would result in a high yield? In NH_3 production, the yield is increased by condensing the NH_3 to a liquid and removing it. Would condensing ethanol have the same effect?

a ) the reate of the reaction increased by addition of littile amount of acid (H+) . in presence of acid the reaction becaomes faster . H+ can act as a catalyst. first H+ adds to double bonded ethene and then water added and then H+ leaves from product.

b) for getting good yield of product . the following conditions are needed

(i) forward reaction is exothermic .so low temperatures are favours. by decreasing temperature of the mixture the product will form more

(ii) by taking excess reactant C2H4 the product will be of good yield

(c) yes. same rule applied here aslo. if we remove the product as soon as it is formed the products cannot combine to give reactants again . it is also one good technique to get good yield of product

a ) major species : CH3COOH

b) the dissociation of acetic acid decreases that means the equilibrium shifts to the left . so more CH3COOH will form . in presence of acetate , acetic acid becomes weaker acid
