Question
According to the equation Fe^3+(aq) + SCN (aq) [Fe(SCN)]^2+(aq), If 1.0 mL of 0.002 M Fe^3+(aq), 1.0 mL 0.002 M SCN(aq) and 8.0 mL of H_2O are mixed together as the initial solution, what will be the initial concentration of (Fe(SCN)]^2+ (aq)? In the calibration part of the experiment (Part 1). the reactants are combined with one as a limiting reagent. According to the equation Fe^3+(aq) + SCN (aq) (Fe(SCN)]^2+(aq), if 1.0 mL of 0.2 M pe^3+(aq), 1.0 mL 0.002 M SCN (aq) and 69.0 mL of H_2O are mixed together as the initial solution, what will be the equilibrium concentration of Fe^3+(aq)? In the calibration part of the experiment (Part 1), the reactants are combined with one as a limiting reagent. According to the equation Fe^3+(aq) + SCN (aq) [Fe(SCN)]^2+(aq), if 1.0 mL of 0.2 M Fe^3+(aq), 1.0 mL 0.002 M SCN (aq) and 69.0 mL of H_2O are mixed together as the initial solution, what will be the equilibrium concentration of SCN (aq)?Explanation / Answer
I will answer part 8:
Innitial concentration of Fe and SCn (Therefore the innitial concentration of the complex)
[Fe] = 0.002 * (1/10) = 0.0002 M
[SCN] = 0.002 * (1/10) = 0.0002 M
Therefore the concentration of FeSCN should be the same.
For part 9 and 10, I need the value of the Kc (Equilibrium constant) to do this, if you don't provide this value, we cannot determine the real concentration in equilibrium of both reactants. Or at least the concentration of the complex.
Hope this helps
