Question

I need to determine the molarity of a fictional SUCROSE drink for my chemistry lab. I am given the drinks density (1.015 g/ml) and the molar mass of sucrose (342.30 g/mol). This project requires me to create 5 sucrose solutions (just sucrose dissolved in water), and then graph them with 5 densities (from 1.0g/ml-1.6g/ml) then use a calibration curve to find the proper molarity of sucrose needed for this drink.

How do I determine five concentrations of sucrose to make 5 sucrose solutions (In water)???

I'm really struggling with this.

Explanation / Answer

To make 5 different solutions, add different mass of sucrose in same amount of water.

Measure their densities and then graph them.

Now, density = mass/volume

Molar concentration = (mass/molar mass)/volume in litres =density/Molar mass
