Explanation / Answer
In Isle Royle wolves are suffering bone deformities due to intensive inter breeding. A large portion of these wolves showed vertebral malformities which tens to be detrimental. This polulation keep separated from the mainland population and thus interbreeding is the only way for them to increase their pack size. The introduction of non-related wolves can be use to decrease the effects of gene detoriation but there are lot more issue to think before this process. First, wolves are usually territorial animal. They don’t allow non-related wolves in their area and often kill them. Thus introduction of non-related wolves will be very challenging. Second, wolves population is completely depend upon the wolf–moose interactions on Isle Royale. Neither moose nor wolves are cultured by human. The moose population is decrease due to the ticks and other factors associated with climate warming. Thus introduction of wolves may be more detrimental to the moose population which finally brings extinction of wolves form this place. But, as this disease now affects the entire population of wolves then the intervention may be useful. But is this condition it is really difficult to mitigate the wolves condition. The level of disease infected the population in such a high rate it is better to extinct the population rather than a gene rescue. Due to many ethical and scientific issues it is better that there is no human interference on Isle Royale wolves. Let mother mature take of them. So, in future after extinction of wolves new wolves form mainland may be reintroduced into the area which easier and better for the nature also.
