Question

In a remote galaxy, on a distant planet, alien beings with an amphibian-like appearance live in large glass orbs. They are more commonly known as the Asymmetric Blarfarneycroms. With all of their needs provided by technology, and no concept of monetary currency or economics, they pass the time on the upper-levels of their glass orbs, sunning themselves with their infrared lamps, eating Dangdoodly Cheez-Whippets, and watching The Adventures of Mega-Galactotron 5000 on their hologram-based 4D viewing platforms. The lower halves of their glass orbs are uninhabitable, used as dedicated water reservoirs that are necessary for maintaining the high humidity living conditions that the Asymmetric Blarfarneycroms cannot go without. In addition to humidity, Blarfarneycroms are also particularly sensitive to high levels of Clarbon TriMoxide, a water-soluble gas, in their living space. If these levels get too high, the Blarfarneycroms can die. Every so often, a Clarbon TriMoxide alarm will go off, and the Blarfarneycroms will dump a bag of an unidentified salt into the water reservoir at the bottom of their glass bowl. A few minutes after adding the salt, the Clarbon TriMoxide alarm shuts off. Can any of you space cadets describe (using chemistry terms) what in the suborbital hoobarbifarb is going on here?

Explanation / Answer

To maintaine the crbontrioxide levals, They are using some salt, The salt dissociate in to their ions and the cations (X+ ) react with the carbon trioxide it becomes as a undissolved solid in the water, The other part of the anion (Y- ) willnot affect carbon trioxide leval as a result of this the concentration of the carbontrioxide leval maintaine constant.

XY ---------> X+ + Y-

Excess carbontrioxide:

CO3- + X+ --------> XCO3.

For the alaram Elecrochemical cel type of the mechanism is applied, It works based on the concentration of the Ions in the water.
