Question
Complete a brief paragraph on each of the assigned topics below. All work should be in sentence/paragraph form, and in your own words (do not copy and paste from our power points or other sources). Please indicate which textbook, if any, you have used.Mitosis and Meiosis: Briefly describe the four ways that mitosis and meiosis differ from each other.
Transcription and Translation of the Genetic Code: Describe the different types of RNA at work in the cell and their roles in the transcription and translation of the genetic code.
Musculoskeletal system: Describe the four steps in the cross-bridge formation of a muscle contraction.
Sensory and the Nervous System: Describe how an action potential occurs.
Circulatory and Respiratory System: Describe what is happening in your thoracic cavity when you breathe in and out.
The Endocrine System: How do the thyroid and parathyroid work together to control calcium levels in the blood?

Explanation / Answer
1. Mitosis occurs in somatic cells whereas meiosis used to take place in Germ cells only. The complete process of mitosis occurs in just one stage of cell division whereas the process of meiosis includes two sets of cell divisions known as Stage I and stage II. At the end of mitosis two daughter cells produced also have same diploid chromosome number like parent cells. In meiosis, the four daughter cells produced have haploid chromosome number that is half of the parent cell. The process of mitosis occurs in both asexually and sexually reproducing organisms whereas the process of meiosis takes place only in sexually reproducing organisms.
