What errors are caused by doing multiple trials with very small picces of ice (0.8What errors are caused by doing multiple trials with pieces of ice that are very large?Explanation / Answer
Solution:
a)
if small pieces --> error is essentially on "mass of cube" since the smaller the mass, the more sensible:
Q = m*C*(Tf-Ti) and Q = m*LH becomes
since m is directly proportional to latent heat and sensible heat
the smaller the mass, the more error in the mass present, therefore, more error overall
b)
if trials are done with large ice cubes --> probability of bubbles inside the cube are likely, therefore, decreases specific heat and latent heat, this error is minimal.
Also note that if ice won't metl 100%, there will be an error
