Oxygen and nitrogen are the gases that are present in the atmosphere in maximum amount. Nitrogen is 78 % by volume and oxygen is 21% by volume and rest all other trace gases make 1 % of the atmosphere.

Both of these gases play a an important role in our lives. Nitrogen is required for the growth and reproduction as it is an important constituent of amino acids and proteins.

Oxygen is the most important gas for our survival. We breathe in oxygen and hence cannot imagine life without it. It is required for the release of energy from the fuel that we ingest in the form of food.
