Can u solve the first 3 problems under pH calculations? SHOW ALL WORK! C Moles of sodium acctate in 250.0 mL acctate buffer 1.3 Molarity of sodium acetate in acetate buffer ,25? Explanation / Answer

pH calulations

a) pH of 1 ml of 0.6 M NaOH in 50ml H2O

[OH-] = 0.6 M x 1.0 ml/51 ml = 0.012 M

[H+] = 1 x 10^-14/0.012 =8.5 x 10^-13 M

pH = -log[H+] = -log(8.5 x 10^-13) = 12.07

--

b) pH of 1 ml of 0.6 M HCl in 50ml H2O

[H+] = 0.6 M x 1.0 ml/51 ml = 0.012 M

pH = -log[H+] = -log(0.012) = 1.921

--

c) initial pH of acetate buffer

pH = pKa + log(acetate/acetic acid)

      = 4.75 + log(0.06144/0.04272)

      = 4.91

After 1 ml of 0.6 M NaOH added to 50 ml buffer

final moles acetate = 0.06144 M x 50 ml + 0.6 M x 1 ml = 3.672 mmol

final moles acetic acid = 0.04272 M x 50 ml - 0.6 M x 1 ml = 1.536 mmol

pH = 4.75 + log(4.672/1.536)

      = 5.13
