Two chemicals A and B are combined to form a chemical C. The rate, or velocity, of the reaction is proportional to the product of the instantaneous amounts of A and B not converted to chemical C. Initially, there are 40 grams of A and 50 grams of B, and for each gram of B, 2 grams of A is used. It is observed that 25 grams of C is formed in 7 minutes. How much is formed in 14 minutes? Given For every gram of B the reacted amount of A is 2 g
So 2g of A reacts with 1 g of B
40 g of A reacts with 40/2 = 20 g of B
So 50 - 20 = 30 g of B left unreacted in the reaction mixture so B is the excess reactant.
Since all the mass of A completly reacted it is the limiting reactant.
So the mass of A left is zero
The mass of B left is 30g
Given 25 g of C formed in 7 minutes
25x2 = 50 g of C formed in 7x2=14 minutes
