Question

The Sun Sunspot Jet passing in front of the Sun Warning: Never look at the Sun without the proper equipment. Introduction Below is diagram showing the layers of the Sun that can be directly observed. We can only "see" into the interior with sophisticated techniques such as helioseismology. Corona Chromosphere Photosphere Interior of the Sun Region of the Thickness (km) Density T Temperature (K) (kg/m3) Sun 150,000 at core 15 million at core 696,000 Core to Photosphere 5800 2 x 10-4 Photosphere 500 4500 5 x 10-6 1500 Chromosphere 1 million about 1 million 10 12 Corona (turns into the Solar Wind)

Explanation / Answer

1. sun diameter is appproximately 865000 miles while earth diameter is 7917.5 miles and therefore it is almost 109 times earth diameter.

2. for question 2 i.e size of sunspot as it has to be measure using ruler and since i dont have a soft copy of it i will tell you the way to do it and it is very simple.

1. measure the diameter of given solar image in millimeters 2.now divide 865000 with that diameter to find out the scale (miles per millimeter) 3.now measure sunspot its size in millimeters and multiply with the value obtained in 2nd step and this gives its diameter. 4.now divide the value in step3 by 7917.5 to get the required answer.

I hope this would solve the issue.
