Childhood socialization can increase or decrease negative attitudes toward racia

Question

Childhood socialization can increase or decrease negative attitudes toward racial, ethnic, and religious groups depending on your parents and how you are raised. An increase in negative attitudes toward certain ethnic groups may be acquired through your parents. If you are born and raised with parents who are prejudice and discriminate towards certain groups you are more than likely to repeat the behaviors you observe. For example, if your parents are prejudice against African Americans you are likely to discriminate them as well or believe they are “bad” or “weird”. If your parents are against you having contact with certain racial, ethnic, or religious groups, socialization towards that certain ethic group might be negative due to the lack of knowledge a child has growing up. As a child I was brought up to socialize with everyone no matter race, ethnicity, or religion. I have been able to understand other ethnic groups way of living. I could acquire the knowledge that groups out of my norm are just about the same the only thing that differs was either tradition or beliefs. The television programs I watch the most tend to reflect towards White Americans. From white privilege to everyone must be wealthy to thrive. In other shows that I have watched that involve Hispanics they tend to be geared toward poverty and “gangster” type people. I believe programs exaggerate the truth when reflecting on the U.S. population. I know plenty of White Americans who are not wealthy and are still able to thrive in life. As for Hispanics, not every Hispanic lives in poverty in the U.S. I know plenty of Hispanics who live well and have good jobs. Programs in my opinion are targeting the younger generation into believing we should think and feel certain ways about either theirs or others ethnic background.

BRIEFLY 5-6 LINES WHAT DO YOU AGREE ON THIS PASSAGE OR WHAT IS TRUE?

Explanation / Answer

I agree with this fact that programs focus on changing young minds towards racism. This is true in many countries as they try to impose such thoughts on children since because they have a powerful tool to communicate with. Even parents play an important role in changing the children's thoughts towards being racist towards a group.
