Three polarizers are arranged as shown in the figure If the incident beam of light is vertically polarized and has an intensity of 1.52W/m2 , find the transmitted intensity, when ?2 = 28.0? and ?3 = 56.0?. If the incident beam of light is vertically polarized and has an intensity of 1.52W/m2 , find the transmitted intensity, when ?2 = 56.0? and ?3 = 28.0?.Explanation / Answer
According to law of Mauls
I= Iocos^2 (theta)
For case 1, I1 = 1.52 cos^2 (28) =1.18 W/m^2
After passing through second polarizer, I= 1.18 cos^2 56=0.36 W/ m^2
For second case,
I= 0.36 W/m^2
