Question
Find the current in each resistor.
Find the rate at which energy is being delivered to the 6.0? resistor.
2)Two parallel plates, 6.75cm on a side, are separated by 3.32 mm.Determine their capacitance if the volume from one plate to midplane is filled with a material of dielectric constant 2.55 and the rest is filled with a different material of dielectric constant 4.10. If these plates are connected to a 12-V battery, what is the electric field strength in the dielectric region with ?1= 2.55 ?What is the electric field strength in the dielectric region with?2= 4.10 ?
Explanation / Answer
1.
since R1 and R2 are in parallel
1/R12=1/R1+1/R2=1/4 +1/6
R12=2.4 ohms
Applying KVL in the Loop
-6+I*R3+I*R12-12+I*R5+I*R4=0
-18+I*(2+2.4+2+8)=0
I=18/14.4 =1.25 A
So Current each resistor is
I1=I*(R2/R1+R2) =1.25*(6/6+4) =0.75 A
I2=I*(R1/R1+R2) =1.25*(4/6+4) =0.50 A
I3=1.25 A
I4=1.25 A
I5=1.25 A
b)
Power in 6ohms resistor is
P6=I22R2 =0.52*6
P6=1.5 Watts
