Explanation / Answer
Patient safety is the utmost important requirement in any clinical practice. Two examples of National Patient Safety Goals include:
1). Improve the accuracy of patient identification: Wrong patient identification affects all stages of diagnosis and treatment. Generally, the patient's name, phone number, identity card are used as patient identifiers. Using the digital identification system such as bar coding or fingerprints helps to improve the accuracy of patient identification. Appropriate labelling of the specimens, using the electronic medical records also avoid mistakes in patient identification.
2). Minimizing the harm associated with clinical alarm systems: The aim of patient alarm systems is to detect the abnormal signals and prevent the possible harm. The technology used in fire alarm systems and the other chemical hazard systems must be more sensitive and specific.
