Two policies and procedure:
1. Helping a person to be self dependent and giving them their own time and space during the course of adapting new behaviours.
2. Try to not force anything that can make them feel vulnerable or less compatible.
By trying to maintain well communication and first observing their way of doing stuffs finding the much comfortable and easier way to improve their daily life with their basic activities. They have great sense and self confidence, a helper can utilise these two quality for helping them.
Legal and ethical consideration are trying not to force things with disability person and even concern with the wording which can hurt them during the course of treatment plan.
Helping wih disabilities clients normally you have to be with them 24X7. In course a helper can become very close to the patient. Trying to maintain professionalism behaviour is important with the clint and not getting involved in their personal life is significant for maintaining dignity of the helper and patient.
You should maintain well behaviour with your client and try to be soft spoken while taking care. Keeping a patience is utter most important during helping patient with disabilities.
