To see why this is silly, we compare the effect of Venus (which is the closest major planet to Earth) to the effect of choosing a different obstetrician. Assume the mass of a newborn baby is 3.5 kg.

A. The mass of Venus is 4.87x10^24 kg. At nearest approach, Venus is 8.0x10^10 m away from the Earth. Find the gravitational force Venus makes on the baby.

B. Compute the force a slender OB/GYN would make; the doctor is 50 kg in mass, and is a minimum of 25 cm from the center of mass of the baby.
